The Macho
I painted “The Macho” two times, each time with a different background. The painting technique is different from the one I used for the
picture “Striptease”. It is actually my favourite technique. The whole painting is divided into individual areas; the colours do not blend, but are clearly marked off. This is how I started painting in
1978/79 after I had finished my watercolour painting studies. I wanted to develop my own individual style and finally came up with the unblended colours and the individual areas in the painting. I was
inspired by cubism (Picasso and George Braque developped the cubism at the turn of century in Paris).
Back again to “The Macho”. I painted both pictures in the middle of the nineties and was clearly inspired by advertisements showing
beautiful male bodies. And indeed, it is really absolutely pleasant and erotic to caress a beautiful body. It was inevitable for me to paint a male body on which two female hands can be seen touching
this body. The painting ceases below the navel, so that the genitals are not visible. Again, the viewer is invited to use his imagination.
